Every few weeks I’ll post an update as to What’s Happening in My World to keep you right up to date.
*****10th Feb 2019*****
Change is a Coming –
I said 2019 would be a year of change; a year where forward movement is the norm. And it’s started. The first movement has been that transfer of my podcast, The Crime Fiction Lounge (TCFL) to here on my writing website. If you don’t know the podcast, I should explain that I chat with guest authors from the crime fiction community about their latest release, their writing life and a lot more. Each episode can last between 30 minutes to just over an hour and I’m currently on episode #15 if you want to play catch up? Listen to the podcast here.
*****29 December 2018*****
Hello, and a Happy New Year to you, wherever you are in the world.
I love this time of year where we see out the old and welcome the new. People around me are all talking about reflections of things past and goals and aspirations for the year to come and beyond, and so far, I can’t recall anyone mentioning the ‘R’ word, that’s resolution in case you were wondering.
My Writing
I launched Shades of Loyalty (book #2 in The Jack Jago series), last June. I initially launched it in electronic and paperback formats and in the first part of next year, I’m looking at introducing the audio format.
As I write, I’m reviewing my first draft of book #3 in the Jack Jago Series and it should be ready to send off to the editor in a couple of weeks. If the plan of an editor, revision, a proofreader, cover design, and formatting goes as planned I should be ready to launch at the start of March 2019. I’ll keep you posted.
I’ve also outlined book #4 and am planning a detective novel. More news about these in 2019.
Other projects
I love crime fiction, mystery, and thrillers and I’ve been involved in a project to propagate that love. On 21st September I launched The Crime Fiction Lounge which is a website dedicated to crime fiction fans. It contains a podcast where crime fiction authors are interviewed about their latest books and their writing life, there are new titles, some classics, reviews, event listings, and a crime fiction related gift shop. You can subscribe here.
It’s been a busy 2018 and I can see 2019 being the same, but if you’re doing something you love, which I am, it’s all good.
Thank You
I want to thank you, my readers, for your kindness and support throughout 2018.
You may have read my free sample novella The Plastic Paradigm. By the way, if you have read this title perhaps you would so good as to write a short review for me? Here’s the link
Likewise, if you have read Shades of Loyalty, I’d really appreciate it if you take five minutes to write a review. Here’s the link
Photos
If you have a copy of any of my books why not share of photo of yourself with the title on social media. Word of mouth from you folks goes a long way to spreading the word of my work and enables me to keep on writing.
It only leaves me to say
I want to wish you a very Happy New Year 2019, whatever you are doing? I’m going to a local event where my wife and I will be in Superhero Fancy Dress, Flash Gordon, and the Scarlett Witch!
I look forward to updating you in 2019.
Best wishes,
Paul
***** 22nd June 2018 *****
Hello,
Well, yesterday was an event! Yes, yesterday saw the launch of Shades of Loyalty and I’d like to give huge thanks to all of my Advanced Readers for their time and effort in reading and reviewing the book to date. I loved writing this story. It’like my other titles and is an independent crime action thriller within the series and it has a purpose. It tackles the transition from military to civilian (civvy) life and brings awareness of PTSD, as well as the consequences of decisions made by decision makers. And it’s all fiction of course!
Here’s a snapshot of some of the reviews:
“This book grabs you from the first page and doesn’t stop there. Twists and turns but Jago is determined to solve this. Well written and entertaining. Highly recommended.” (Amazon Reviewer)
“This reminds me of the James Bond movies. It starts with a bang–literally–and never lets up.” (Amazon Reviewer)
“The plot moves at a great pace and there is plenty of action, there are also some very good characters. I also like that it delves to a degree into the issues that some ex-service people have on entering ‘civvy street’.” (Amazon Reviewer)
“This is a non-stop adventure with a strong convoluted plot.” (Amazon Reviewer)
“A lot of action in this thriller.” (Amazon Reviewer)
“This one seat of the pants action thriller. Great plot and characters, plenty of suspense and action. Bombs, stolen money, military personnel and pay back. Author did a wonderful job on this suspenseful thriller, great plot, and characters.” (Amazon Reviewer”
“This was another great story by this author. Great main character with the plot filled with action and intrigue to keep you entertained.” (Amazon Reviewer)
“Realistic and original thriller.” (Amazon Reviewer)
“I got this book as an ARC and I loved every minute of it. I couldn’t put it down and am looking forward to reading many more by Paul. He really knows how to keep you engaged in the story.” (Amazon Reviewer)
******12th June 2018 – 9 Days Away ******
Hello,
I hope that you’re enjoying the summer so far, I am.
I’d like to thank in advance all of my Advanced Reader Team for their kindness and effort in reading, The Plastic Paradigm and now Shades of Loyalty. I’m 9 days away from launching Shades of Loyalty and I can’t wait to see your reviews!
While I’ve been busy marketing for the launch I’ve also been making headway into Book #3 and I’m already of chapter 7. It’s looking to be a fantastic story tinged with a little sadness, a punishing chase, non-stop action, and revelations. That’s all I can say at the moment.
*****26th May 2018 – Writing from Sunny Valencia, Spain *****
Hello,
I’d like to start by seeing what reviewers are saying about the first in series, The Plastic Paradigm:
– Firstly, I’m pleased to say that the first in series has received a number of 4 and 5 STAR reviews which is fantastic news!
– Then there are the comments in the reviews and here are some of them from Amazon and Goodreads:
– “Meet the next James Bond. Jago is definitely someone I’d want on my side.” –
– “I’d spend money and time to watch it in movie form.” –
– “A very enjoyable book with believable characters and storyline. Loads of action from start to end. Reminded me a bit of Zeb Carter. Hope to hear more from PAUL, I do like to read series books and get to know characters and this one looks very promising xx” –

*****8th April 2018 – Out on My Travels In Mandurah, Perth, Western Australia*****
Apart from lots of walking in the glorious sunshine, I spent a lot of time getting to know Mandurah and the surrounding area. And this time I managed to visit the notorious Crab Fest which is a lively event full of live music, cheer, and food, lots of food of all types, and there was of course plenty of crabs to be had. Here’s a short video to give you the idea:
Mandurah is a coastal town situated south of Perth. It has a broad water inlet/estuary that leads to a massive expanse of water named Collins Pool around which activity is abundant on and off of the water. It’s also not uncommon to see many pods of dolphins, and evidently, the occasional shark wanders in close! While attending the Crab Fest, I had the inspiration for this to be a significant location in my next Jack Jago Novel. So, why not check back often to see how that works out or better still sign up to my Readers Group for updates.

30th October – What’s Happening – Thriller Writing
Hello, I haven’t posted for a while, and that’s for a good reason. I’ve been researching locations, resources and writing my new thriller, and yes I’ve been writing a lot! But let me tell you about where I’ve been studying. I’ve chosen some scenes in my current writing project to take place in Valencia, Spain, a vibrant city full of architectural wonders, fascinating people, and exciting culture. Oh, and I nearly forgot lovely beaches and in March a super fiesta in Fallas!
Here’s a short montage of this wonderful city? I hope that you enjoy it?

17th March
What’s Happening – I just returned from a trip to Australia, and I’m busy sorting out the photographs into categories so that I can use them in my writing. I tend to use photographs in this way as they provide an excellent source of reference. On this particular journey, we had a fantastic opportunity to visit the Thrombolites (Living Stones). Evidently, this is the only place on the planet where they can be found, and I can already see where they might feature in a future story. They are situated in a 20 km long lake at a place called Lake Clifton. Lake Clifton is in the Yalgorup Lakes National Park, less than half an hour’s drive south of Mandurah along Old Coast Road. The Thrombolites sit in shallow water along a 6km-long section of Lake Clifton’s eastern shoreline. They appear like giant stone footballs in the water where they multiply and attach to one another. By the way, if you do get the chance to visit the Thrombolites, there’s a beautiful winery complete with restaurant and music nearby. You can see more photos for my trip here.
